About

Welcome to my blog!

This is a place to share my family's journey.  It started as a way to share our complicated lives with friends and family. It has grown to also be a place for others with illness or disability and their family to feel less alone and find understanding and, at times, courage to go forward into their own journeys. There is something very powerful in sharing a journey, especially in honesty and openness.

The story is of a chronically ill mother and chronically ill child and the ups and downs that that brings. I have six autoimmune diseases, which affect every part of my body and every part of my life. As a result of my illnesses (which I was unaware of having prior to pregnancy), I had an unexpectedly dramatic pregnancy, at the end of which I had a micropreemie baby boy weighing just 1.4 pounds. Our lives have since been filled with pervasive adversity and unwavering love ever since.

In addition to sharing about our illness and disability, I share about other aspects of our lives. One such aspect is a tiny house, which we built ourselves- nearly finishing- until I was too ill to finish. I have also shared about other things close to my heart, including parenting, environmentalism, vegan diet and recipes, and photography.

If you are trying to find something in particular, you may use the search function, which is in the top left of this blog. If you would like to see stories related to something in particular, there is a list of labels on the right side of the home page, which list articles where you may find these topics.

I hope you find something of worth here, be it a laugh, strength, kinship, courage, or a seed of an idea.
